Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE)

Personal, Social, Health & Economic Education is a cross curricular element of school life combining the components of Health Education, Drugs Education, Sex Education and Citizenship with the skills and attitudes required to promote the personal and social development of the children. It is about enabling children to develop an understanding of themselves and helps them to contribute to school life and to society as informed, responsible, caring individuals.

The National Curriculum divides P.S.H.E & Citizenship into four objectives which are developed across a child’s time in school:

  1. Developing confidence and responsibility and making the most of their abilities.
  2. Preparing to play an active role as citizens.
  3. Developing a healthy, safer lifestyle.
  4. Developing good relationships and respecting the differences between people.
